If you cant stand by the products you SELL. Even if you didnt make them. Then DONT sell them. This is 0% Marks fault and 100% seller/manufacturers fault! Mark is paying for a 8-9 second motor not a damaged motor. I think comp should pay for it and if they dont then Livernois should pay for it since they didnt check them before selling them to a customer. Either way, Im a furture customer of Livernois and Comp. We will see if they earn my business.

Edit: I think Comp is at fault but Livernois sure stand behind the products they sell or dont sell them at all. CK should not be the victim.

Mark = 0% at fault
Livernois=50% at fault
Comp Cams=100% at fault!!!

What does that have to do with anything? I have not and will not bash Livernois. I think they are one of the best engine builders in our performance community. I hate to see threads like this about Livernois. I cant think of any though that didnt end with a resolution that was agreeable to all parties involved.

To answer your question, a big fat ZERO. I will have to wait till my finances improve before I attempt to learn how to build a mod motor. Ive actually hope to take some courses in engine building.

I had a similar problem with a new Kellogg forged 8 bolt stroker crank ( it was out of round) in a 5.3 shortblock that Hawaii Racing built for me. Unfortunately for them, they didn't find out about it until after they had it balanced. They replaced it with another new crank, and sent that crank out for balancing, all within a two weeks, at no additional cost. A performance shop that inspects the parts before assembly, and handles these types of issues without question will have my business for a long time.

Possible lessons to be learned?
1) Always inspect the parts prior to assembly, whether they are new or not.
(in the case of a cam or crank ... a lathe and a dial indicator.)
2) Run post assembly friction / torque tests where possible.
3) Treat the customers fairly, good PR spreads quickly, bad PR spreads even more quickly.
