IMO, If you do absolutely nothing to the suspension you should only widen stock wheels 0.5" to the inside. If you go to 1" you run the risk of the rim rubbing on the bump stop bracket at stock ride height. If you stiffen up things with a new upper, lowers, and adjustable (a must) panhard bar you could probably do the 1" widening. If you widen 1.5" you need the car lowered or the bump stop brackets ground off and you definitely need the suspension stiffening components. The dust boot on the stock shocks may also have to be removed. I'm not sure on this because I went with the smaller QA1 shocks which also have no dust boot. Another thing to consider is a watts link over the standard panhard bar. The watts link keeps the rear centered regardless of varying ride height due to fuel and passenger weight differences, where the panhard bar may allow the rear to move from side to side, especially at stock ride height. This is lessened if you lower the car as the panhard bar is more parallel to the rear. I'm currently running 1.5" widened stockers with M/T 345/35/18's. I have FRPP lowering springs, rear QA1 shocks, UCA, LCA, and adj panhard bar and brace. I've tracked (1/4) the car several times with no issues and under normal driving I have no rubbing at all. I will rarely get a minor rub when my fuel level gets around 1/8 tank and I turn up a hill or driveway. I may switch out to the same size M&H DR's. They've corrected their size somewhat but I still think they run a little smaller than the M/T's. I'm also considering running the M&H 325/40/18's which would give me a little more side wall and would have no chance of rubbing in my case.

I used Weldcraft as well. They do some nice work. Wheels are only widened in increments of 0.5".

G/L and let us know which route you go.

Mike

I have the Griggs GR40SS kit with Watts Link and the "315 kit" installed that moves the rear shocks inward allowing a wider wheel to fit. I was thinking of widening my road track set of stock wheels to 11" and running Hoosier 315/30/18s which are 12.5" wide and recommended for 11"-12" rims.

I currently run the Nitto 305/40/18s on stock rims for the street and they are 12.13" wide and Toyo R888 305/35/18s on the track. I got under the car and measured to see what clearance looked like. It looked like the closest contact point is the bolt head at the top of the shock. I measured just under 2" of clearance and the Nittos sit 1/2" outside the stock rims. To me it seems like I've got plenty of room to go 11" rims since the Hoosiers shouldn't sit outside the rim diameter like the Nittos. I wasn't able to measure clearance at the bump stops without getting it on a four wheel lift so I can measure with the suspension loaded.

Anyone know if the 11" will work fine?
