Default Re: 11.2 at 122 on stock 2v with a Vortech and E85!

Thanks guys. Pulling the wheels was one of my short term goals this year. That and running 10's on the stock motor, which I haven't done yet.

Here's a full video on streetfire of that pass. I bogged it so the wheels didn't stay up long. If I ride the clutch a little longer, I should be able to get the wheels to hang and get my 60 ft back down in the 1.5x's again. (That was a 1.65 pass)

I can't believe this SPEC stage 2 clutch is still purring like a kitten after all this abuse for 2+ years. It's supposed to be rated at 400 hp but it's evidently stronger than I thought.

Video - Steve Shrader's 11.29@122.79 pass during the live taping of PINKS ALL OUT at Rockingham Dragway on April 07, 2007.

I am blown away by this car. It is more than I would ever hae believed was possible on a 2 valve with just a Vortech, and a tune. Please tell me that you have done more to it than just the blower, and the gas conversion. I also would like to know if I understood you correctly. I think you are saying the the E85 gas is one of the reasons the car runs so good.I am NOT a mechanic so could you in dummy terms tell us what is required to do this conversion, and approximately how much? As you can see from my signature I am faster, but hell I spent a bunch more money. I also have to pay $6.50 or up a gallon for 110 octane gas. Your car is amazing. I had alot more done to my old moter than you, and only was in the mid 11's with it. GREAT JOB. Cnile

c nile,
Thanks for the comments!

I hide nothing on what's done to the car, so here's a quick breakdown on the major components of the car setup:

Engine: stock internals, cam covers never been removed. Vortech S trim with intercooler (iced for track runs), Anderson Power pipe, Pro-M MAF, 75mm accufab TB, C&L Plenum, elec water pump, 3.33 SC pulley. 60 lb injectors. 470 rwhp SAE. Using STD correction was 485. Full size battery in the trunk. Rev limit at 6600.

Suspension: Basically a street suspension, Steeda upper/lower control arms, steeda superlite sport springs, tokico adjustable struts up front, and regular non-adj shocks in the back. Stock Kmember.

Drivetrain:
Spec stg 2 clutch, billet steel flywheel, aluminum driveshaft, 3.73 rear, 31 spline moser axles.

Weight:
It's not gutted by any means, but I've done some lightening. All stereo stuff is out, rear seat delete, skinnies up front, corbeau front seats, and some other stuff. Car weight is about 3100 no driver. 3275 with me in it.

E85 Conversion:
For my setup and power level, the stock fuel lines and rails have been sufficient. Replaced previous 42lb injectors with 60's and added a KB BAP to my existing 03 Cobra fuel pumps. (Ideally larger pumps would work better)

Only other major component was the Pro-Dyno tune. Gotta have a good tune, man. Dan Desio has the tune set to be safe, yet still increased the timing to take advantage of higher octane. I think the cooler burning fuel and extra quantity of fuel also help keep the detonation suppressed, and keep the hyperpathetic pistons from blowing up. ;)

First of nice car and I love the picture with the wheels up. Kinda off topic but any advice on how to capture a picture like this (I am assuming this is from a movie...) I have a video (MPEG) of my brothers car where the wheel comes up but I have been unable take a screen shot of it? When I try to print screen and then paste it it comes up black. When I saw this I thought maybe you might know how to pull it off. Thanks

Used PAINT. Hit ALT+Print Screen to copy it. Paste into Paint and manipulate it to hide the edges. Could be the version of Windows you're using that doesn't allow it. I was on XP.
